What Traders Say About OANDA

These sample quotes were taken from large independent forex forums, December 2007.

(Please note: Some sites, such as www.moneytec.com, tend to frown on mentioning the names of brokers on their forums; while others, such as www.dailyfx.com, are owned by a forex provider and focus on that particular platform. Also, note that some of the following quotes have been edited for grammar.)

Note: almost 80% of voters on elitetrader.com gave positive ratings to OANDA (as of December 2007).

For what it's worth, OANDA appears to be one of the most professional, sound FX brokers. They don't have all the "open a demo or small account and learn to get rich" ads, don't do all the deals with IBs, etc.

When it comes to interest/carry rates, OANDA is the best in the retail section bar none.

OANDA is another forex broker firm that is heading in the right direction. I think you will begin to see many more advancements with this firm in the future as they seem to take a lot of what their customer base recommends to heart. I personally recommend OANDA to everyone who starts out in the forex market.

I've used OANDA for about a year now, and my experience with them has been a good one.
They are honest with their spreads, quick to execute orders, and offer the ability to create sub-accounts. This is a new feature that I have enjoyed because it allows me to hedge if I would like.
The negatives of OANDA are their limited tools on their charting platform. However, it basically has what you really need, unless you get really technical with custom indicators. OANDA raises their spreads over weekends, and lowers them pretty late on Sunday (central US here) and this could be a good or bad thing depending on where you are located.

Yep, definitely go with OANDA to learn the ropes of forex. Once you understand the ins and outs you can start using the advanced indicators and overlays on the visual trading platform and the metaquotes platform.

OANDA will allow you to take very small trades, and not restrict you to 'lots' so if you wanted to trade a position size of $2000 or $1276 or even $1 then you could.

While most brokers allow only the standard ($100,000) or mini ($10,000) lot size, OANDA gives traders the ability to trade any lot amount.

You simply can't beat OANDA if you're an active trader trading the Euro.

I have no real complaints with OANDA, almost every limit and stop was filled exactly where I set it, slippage is very rare and in most cases during news events. I had only once a misfill — an order that was filled even though the price did not reach the limit. But OANDA credited my account with the loss, very fair.

OANDA is good because they have low spreads (except at news time), they always take your order, and you can play any size lots.

I don't have that much experience with OANDA but I’ve had a live account for almost three months with them and I am satisfied so far. The smallest spreads, sometimes half-pips, with no commissions—I can't believe it. You can put buy/sell orders anytime and very honestly the only thing is they don't have trailing stop.

I like OANDA, mainly because I don't have to download software to use their services (valuable to me on my work PC).

I’ve used OANDA FXTrade for many years—easy to understand, also the best spreads.
