Weekend Exposure Limits

OANDA is proud to offer customers the ability trade on weekends. It is important to note that, due to reduced trading in the currency markets, exposure limits apply to OANDA fxTrade accounts from Friday 4:00 pm EST until Sunday 4:00 pm EST. During this time, you will be able to close your existing positions, but in some cases, you may not be able to open new positions. If your exposure limit has been exceeded, you will receive an error message stating you cannot open a requested position, even if you have the funds to do so. To book your trade, you can either first reduce your overall account exposure then retry your trade, or you can execute your trade after the weekend.

Also, during weekend hours trading spreads are widened which will impact trade prices as well as the value of open positions. You must ensure that you maintain sufficient margin in your fxTrade account at all times to avoid a margin warning or margin closeout.
