PEAK OIL - information about the world running out of oil

In another thread, this was discussed, but I didn't realise that the thread had went to s.h.i.t., so I am starting anothre thread.

Here is more about this:

"In a recent public address to the Senate of Australia, Bakhtiari stated that "I can see a range of $100-150 [per barrel of oil] not very far into the future." He amplified this statement as follows:

...Bakhtiari believes that the world is at Peak Oil, producing about as much conventional oil on a daily basis as will ever be produced, now about 84 million barrels per day. From here on, the oil markets of the world will be dealing with the ongoing effects of oil field depletion and irreversible production decline. By 2025, Bakhtiari expects that the world's daily production of conventional oil will fall to a level between 50-55 million barrels of oil per day. Bakhtiari counsels that the world's governments, industries, and people accept the fact and begin to prepare. There is no time to lose.

I've been reading about this for years ... I think we have hit global peak production (or are within a few years of it). I also think $60 is the new bottom for oil (although I doubt we will see $60 again). Once $80 is cracked (probably this year), it will likely see $100 within another year, and $80 will be the new bottom.

This should benefit CAD as they have HUGE shale-oil reserves. It costs about $15 / barrel to process it (as opposed to less than $1 / barrel in Saudi), but if the price is high enough, it is economically feasable.

I think we will have plenty to add to this thread as the months go by.

Best bet: against the USD.

Short USDCAD and hold if it break 1.117 decisively.

The USD has 5% of the world's population, and consumes 25% of the oil!

No brainer ... short USD, buy CAD as the price of oil increases.

Thank me when you are a millionaire, and give me 20% of the profits and a bottle of JD. :-)
