Customer support sucks..i guess...

Hello gang!!!

Well....the topic is not that great. I've been with Oanda for 5 years. I always loved to trade using OANDA.....i guess time changes not only people but businesses as well....

I lost about $10,000 of profit because a guy from Oanda customer service didn't update my phone number two month ago....Even though it was a reason why I called at the first place.

I understand that it's also my fault that profit was lost but I used to believe that Oanda would do everything to keep you away from loosing money. Now it seems that they don't care any more and exist just to collect your money.

You lost money because of our error your phone number was not updated? Oh, well...sh*t happens....You are not happy with our service any more and would like to withdraw all you money and close account???? Oh, well...let me help you to do this....

Is this a one time error or it happens a lot with others? Just by the way customer support was trying to resolve the issue i could tell that Oanda is not what it used to be.

Anyone else has bad experience or it's just me?

Overall, I really like Oanda's trading platform. Executions are fast and reliable. In the past I have dealt with internet FX companies where they would freeze the platform so I couldn't close a position. Yes, there are companies like that on the internet. And when I requested a withdrawal they didn't honoured that. But OANDA has been good. And remember this. The CFTC regulates OANDA in the United States. If there is an issue regarding performance or integrity or segregated accounts, YOU HAVE RECOURSE. THE CUSTOMER HAS A VOICE. And I like that.

What? Please explain. How does Oanda not having your current phone number have any relation to you losing $10,000 of profit?

Hi Marrcus!!!!

It's been a long time [Smile]

Well...that's why I said that it is also my fault that I lost $10,000. Not just Oanda. Before closing trades Oanda used to call their customers. I've been told that they called me but the phone number was not in service. They found mistake on their side but it's too late......I added money to my account...closed negative trades..I needed only $2000 to keep my trades active (and profit of $10,000)......but because Oanda didn't update my phone info they could not notify me that I need to deposit $2000.

Well, atleast you have admitted that this was your fault. But to rely on Oanda to personally telephone you to deposit additional funds to avoid a margin call???????? You say "customer support sucks". I say your trade management sucks.

Account was -28% negative when they closed my trades. I had more than enough funds. Aston, dont judge my skills before knowing everything. People get margin calls when their account balance around -65%......not -28% or -30%

So it was not insufficient margin. Why did they close your positions then. You had +10k unrealized PnL? This is highly confusing. Please elaborate.
